Trust Like Rahab: Responding to God’s Presence with Courage
All around us, there are signs and wonders of God’s presence—evidences of His activity in our world, our lives, and throughout history. Yet few allow these signs to truly impact their hearts and lead to life-changing trust in the Lord.
This is exactly what happened in Rahab’s life in Joshua 2:8–11. The people of Jericho had all heard the same stories Rahab recounted: how the Lord dried up the Red Sea, how He defeated mighty kings like Sihon and Og. But only Rahab and her family responded with faith. She recognized the evidence of God’s power and chose to trust Him fully—even at great personal risk.
Rahab’s trust meant leaving behind everything familiar and placing her life in the hands of a God no one around her was following. That kind of trust is rare, but it’s what God calls us to. While our circumstances may not be as dramatic, the invitation is the same: to let the signs of God’s presence move us toward deeper obedience and surrender.
Trusting the Lord often requires daily adjustments—moments where we examine what we’re truly relying on and choose to separate ourselves from the patterns of the world. Like Rahab, we’re called to respond to God’s activity with faith that reshapes our hearts, minds, and lives.
Remarkably, Rahab’s trust didn’t just save her family—it placed her in the lineage of Jesus. She became the mother of Boaz, the great-great-grandfather of King David (Matthew 1:5–6). Her story reminds us that we may never fully know how God will use our trust—but He always does.
A Prayer for Courageous Trust
Dear Lord Jesus, the way Rahab responded to the signs of Your presence stirs my heart. I pray for all of me to be as moved and changed as she was. Help me turn from whatever holds me back and flee to full trust and obedience—so that my life may become a vessel of Your grace and mercy. Like Rahab, may my trust in You shape my legacy in ways I cannot yet see. Forgive me for the weakness of my faith, and grow in me a heart that trusts You more each day. Amen.
